SEATTLE, Wash. – A man from Mexico was sentenced to ten years in prison on Monday, August 28th, for trafficking large amounts of drugs in western Washington.
36-year-old Erick Guerrero-Acosta was arrested in November 2022 after DEA agents seized about 30 pounds of fentanyl, 15 pounds of meth and an illegal firearm from his vehicle.
Acting US Attorney Tessa Gorman says he brought in the drugs at a time when more than one person each day was dying from a fentanyl overdose in King County.
Guerrero-Acosta has prior convictions for drug trafficking in Arizona in 2007 and 2011.
He was also convicted in 2015 for illegally returning to the US after getting deported.
The Department of Justice says he was part of a ring that used tractor trailer trucks to bring drugs into Washington.
