BIRCH BAY, Wash. – North Whatcom Fire and Rescue says a man who crashed his car into the Birch Bay Family Medicine clinic earlier this week was likely experiencing a medical emergency at the time.
The Northern Light reports the 76-year-old driver and sole occupant of the car was travelling about 20 over the 40 mph speed limit when he lost control and hit a boulder in front of the clinic before colliding with the building late last Sunday, February 19th.
The man was transported to Peacehealth St. Joseph Medical Center under advanced life support.
Birch Bay Family Medicine is open for regular hours, and says the damage is primarily to the exterior of the building.
