MAPLE FALLS, Wash. – A Maple Falls man was arrested after being accused of assaulting a woman.

Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Deb Slater said that the victim was able to call for help after the assault on Wednesday night, February 22nd.

The victim told deputies that she had gotten into an argument with the suspect earlier in the evening.

She attempted to leave once the argument escalated, but the suspect followed her to her car and smashed in the back window with a brick.

The suspect then attacked her, prevented her from leaving the car, and took her phone.

Deputies later arrested the suspect, 30-year-old Daniel Izhevskiy, who also had a warrant for illegally owning a firearm.
