BELLINGHAM, WA – One of the most expensive tech acquisitions in history was completed Friday.
Microsoft closed its deal to buy video game-maker Activision Blizzard for $69 billion after nearly two years of antitrust fights.
The finalized deal was announced hours after Microsoft got final approval from the UK’s Competition and Markets Authority.
Microsoft will now take over the studios behind blockbuster games like Call of Duty and Overwatch.
Nearly 22 months went by for the deal to be approved due to concerns from rivals and government regulators that the Redmond-based tech giant will have an unfair competitive edge.
The move still faces opposition from the FTC even after they lost a court fight to pause the merger.
