BELLINGHAM, Wash. – The closure of the Mount Baker Highway near Bellingham has been pushed back a week.

The planned 105-day closure of the highway between Britton and Noon Roads was planned to start on Tuesday, May 30th.

The Whatcom County Public Works Department now says the closure will begin next Monday, June 5th.

The road will be completely closed in both directions for the installation of a fish-friendly bridge over Squalicum Creek.

A detour on Hannegan and Smith Roads will be in place with a reduced speed limit on Hannegan.
