MOUNT VERNON, Wash. – A man is dead following a weekend fire in Mount Vernon.

Mount Vernon Fire officials say that crews responded to the fire at an apartment complex on Myrtle St on Saturday morning.

The fire was contained to a second story apartment, where rescue crews located an unconscious 74-year-old man.

Medical crews later pronounced the man dead at the scene.

No other units were impacted and no one else was injured.

Mount Vernon Fire officials say their initial investigation suggests the fire was accidental.
