NORTH CASCADES, WA. – (KGMI.com) A winter weather advisory is in effect through Friday morning, December 8th, for the Cascades of Whatcom and Skagit Counties.
The National Weather Service in Seattle expects six to 15 inches of snow at heights above 3,000 feet, including at the Mount Baker Ski Area.
KOMO reports both directions of I-90 at Snoqualmie Pass had to be closed on Thursday because drivers did not follow traction tire requirements.
Heavy snow was reported across all major Cascade passes overnight and more snow is forecast for the mountains this weekend.
Travelers are advised to slow down and check road and weather conditions before driving.
The Mount Baker Ski Area says they are hoping for an opening day next Thursday, December 14th, but that is still weather dependent.
