BELLINGHAM, WA. – (KGMI.com) The Arroyo Park Bridge over Chuckanut Creek is now open to the public.
The bridge was damaged in January of 2021 when a tree fell on it during a winter storm.
Repairs were just finished after a lengthy permitting process, according to the City of Bellingham.
Over $500,000 in funding for the repairs came from the Greenway Levy.
Arroyo Park Bridge connects the Interurban Trail to trails in Arroyo Park and Larrabee State Park.
The city says the new 62-foot-long bridge will last for generations while protecting the local salmon population.
