FERNDALE, Wash. – Governor Jay Inslee was in Ferndale on Tuesday, September 12th, to help celebrate the grand opening of a new electric vehicle assembly plant.
B.C.-based Vicinity Motor Corp. hosted the launch of their 100,000-square-foot campus located on Pacific Fern Drive.
The Ferndale facility will produce up to 850 low- and zero-emission buses and 6,250 all-electric commercial trucks per year.
Vicinity said it will immediately start cutting into their order backlog of more than $150 million.
Governor Inslee noted the facility’s role in decarbonizing the state’s transportation system at the opening.
The EV plant will create as many as 300 new jobs in Whatcom County, according to Vicinity.
