BELLINGHAM, WA – A new partnership will give community members struggling with homelessness a way to pursue a college education.

Bellingham Technical College, along with the Lighthouse Missions Ministries and Northwest Youth Services, announced their new Break the Cycle partnership earlier this week.

It looks to offer resources for people at the Lighthouse Mission or NYS to access and enroll in courses at BTC.

Those without a high school degree can start in GED programming and go on to enroll in any of the available trade programs offered by the college.

Lighthouse President and CEO Hans Erchinger-Davis says education is key in preparing homeless individuals for employment as they try to get back on their feet.

The partnership is set to be finalized and implemented by Winter Quarter 2024.
