FERDNALE, Wash. – If you are driving through Ferndale this weekend, keep your eye out for some new public art.

The city says they installed a new sculpture in Griffintown Park on Wednesday, June 7th.

The sculpture, titled “New Hope,” was designed by local artist and former Bellingham Technical College welding instructor Don Anderson.

His work is described as nature-inspired abstract metal sculptures.

Anderson sold it to the city at half price.

City Councilmember Ali Hawkinson says she is grateful for the work of the Arts Commission and the new sculpture will contribute to the artistic landscape of the city.

The Ferndale Arts Commission hosts free community events, and brings murals, sculptures and music to town.

The sculpture cost the city $10,000, which came from the annual budget of the Arts Commission.
