LYNDEN, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Community spirit was alive and well during the Northwest Washington Fair earlier this month.
General Manager Selena Burgess says their inaugural Food Drive Friday, which offered free admission to people who brought food donations, netted over 5.8 tons of food.
All of the donations have been distributed within the Whatcom County Food Bank Network.
Financial donations were also collected during both nights of the Lynden PRCA Rodeo.
Monday night’s event brought in over $3,500 for the PeaceHealth Cancer Center in Bellingham.
Spectators on Tuesday started an impromptu collection for Maui wildfire relief after native Hawaiian Cody Cabral competed.
Over $6,700 was raised for the Maui Strong Foundation during that event.
