BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Search crews were able to rescue and transport an overheated hiker to the hospital over the weekend.

Naval Air Station Whidbey Island said that their Search and Rescue crews were called to a trail in Okanogan County on Sunday evening.

The 54-year-old man was found to be suffering from a heat-related medical condition.

Crews were able to contact the man’s hiking party and hoist him into a helicopter.

He was transported to PeaceHealth St Joseph’s Hospital for treatment.
