CUSTER, Wash. – A 17-year-old has been arrested following a drive-by shooting over the weekend.
Whatcom County Sheriff Chief Deputy Rodger Funk says the shooting was reported on Saturday night, June 17th, in the 7600 block of Custer School Road in Custer.
Deputies recovered a bullet from the scene and determined that the suspect was likely a 17-year-old male.
Hours later, a Bellingham Police officer located the suspect’s vehicle on Texas Street and attempted to pull them over.
The driver fled but crashed into a tree on a dead-end road a short time later.
Deputies searching the car seized two handguns and a rifle, along with magazines and ammunition.
The teen was taken into custody and booked into the Whatcom County Juvenile Detention Center.
