FERNDALE, WA. – A suspect has been arrested in connection to an armed robbery at a Ferndale grocery store.
Ferndale Police responded to a report of a man with a knife stealing alcohol from Haggen on August 15th but were unable to find him.
Lummi Police made a traffic stop last Thursday, September 28th, where they found the passenger to have an unrelated warrant for his arrest in Ferndale.
The Lummi Nation has been conducting extra vehicle searches in response to a string of overdose deaths in the community.
The passenger, 41-year-old Juan Barron, was arrested by Ferndale Police at the scene.
Responding officers noted that his distinctive tattoos were an exact match for photos taken of the suspect during the Haggen robbery.
Barron remains at Whatcom County Jail on $175,000 bail.
