BELLNGHAM, Wash. – The Bellingham City Council is looking for pro and con committees for the Greenways levy ballot measure.
The Council will appoint up to three volunteers to each committee.
Each will be responsible for writing a statement either supporting or opposing the initiative as well as a rebuttal in response to the other committee.
The statements and rebuttals will appear in the Voters’ Pamphlet before the general election.
Potential volunteers can send their name, phone number, email and which committee they want to serve on to ccmail.@cob.org by July 24th.
And there are two more opportunities for community members to give their thoughts on public projects.
The Port of Bellingham is looking for input on its public open spaces.
They are updating their Recreation, Conservation and Public Access Plan in order to receive grants from the state but need feedback from the community.
Whatcom County residents can fill out a brief survey about how they use Port public spaces and give their thoughts on new improvements or amenities.
The survey opens on Monday, July 17th.
Meanwhile, the City of Ferndale is seeking ideas for tourism-related activities.
They are accepting applications for their Hotel-Motel Grant Program.
The program uses funds collected from lodging taxes when people stay at local hotels, motels or RV parks to help boost tourism in the city.
Applicants can suggest a tourism-related project that they think will encourage wide participation in Ferndale.
