BELLINGHAM, Wash. – A possible change in who you get your electricity from in Whatcom County will not be happening any time soon.
A report commissioned by the county’s Public Utility District #1 looked into the possibility of the district expanding their services for all residents.
Most of Whatcom County uses PSE for electrical service.
The proposed expansion would have transferred PSE’s existing equipment and services to the Public Utility District.
However, its study into any potential expansion found that the cost of doing so would drastically raise prices for customers.
But the Public Utility District said in a statement that the idea is not completely off the table for future consideration.
