BELLINGHAM, WA – (KGMI.com) Puget Sound Energy’s Warm Winter campaign is sending money to 75 non-profits in western Washington this year, including 12 in Whatcom County.
The energy company gave a total of $200,000 in contributions to the non-profits with the intention of providing what they say are three critical components of a warm winter: meals, clothing and some holiday joy.
Half of the funds went specifically to purchasing warm, prepared or delivered meals for those without access to cooking facilities.
$70,000 went to buying warm clothing and items like hand warmers and specialized protective helmets.
The remaining $30,000 went to purchasing items like diapers and toys, plus other holiday cheer items for families experiencing hardship.
This is the first year PSE has launched this campaign.
