LYNDEN, Wash. – Border crossings in Lynden and Sumas could be getting some upgrades to make travelling safer and faster.
The US General Services Administration is hosting a public meeting later this month to discuss modernizing the Land Ports of Entry in both cities.
They say the Kennth G. Ward crossing in Lynden has space limitations that frequently cause congestion and inefficiencies.
The crossing in Sumas lacks the space for proper traffic flow and secure inspection areas, according to the GSA.
Both ports of entry would get a modern and energy-efficient upgrade funded by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to address their current problems.
Members of the public are encouraged to attend the virtual meeting on August 23rd at 5 p.m.
