BOSTON (AP) — Masataka Yoshida doubled, tripled and drove in three runs while scoring on a wild pitch, and the Boston Red Sox ended a four-game losing streak with a 9-4 victory over the Seattle Mariners. Justin Turner, Triston Casas and Jarren Duran homered for Boston. Yoshida had a tiebreaking ground-rule double in the fifth, then scored on a wild pitch. The Red Sox were swept by the last-place St. Louis Cardinals and lost the series opener against Seattle. Nick Pivetta allowed four runs with six strikeouts in 5 1/3 innings. Taylor Trammell homered for Seattle.
