BELLINGHAM, WA. – (KGMI.com) The owner of the Harris Avenue Cafe is confirmed to be the person whose remains were found in the burned-out Terminal Building.
The Whatcom County Medical Examiner’s Office says Nathaniel Breaux died from inhaling smoke and fumes from the fire and that his death was accidental.
He was the only person unaccounted for following the fire that destroyed the historic building in Fairhaven on the night of December 16th.
The building’s instability hindered the search, but a body was recovered on December 26th.
Investigators are still working to determine a cause of the fire that destroyed the building that stood at the corner of Harris Avenue and 11th Street since 1888.
