BELLLINGHAM, Wash. – More people moved out of Washington state than moved in last year.

Allied Van Lines’ annual U.S. Migration Report finds 55.5% of interstate movers left Washington in 2022 while 44.5% moved in.

The report finds new arrivals to Bellingham mostly came from California while others came from Phoenix and the upper Midwest.

Those leaving our city favored the Denver area, southern California, Tucson, and Boise, Idaho.

The states with the most new migrants last year were Arizona, the Carolinas, Tennessee and Texas.

Those with the most seeking greener pastures were Illinois, California, New Jersey, Michigan and Pennsylvania.
