BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Personal income continues to grow at a healthy rate in Bellingham and Whatcom County but is being outpaced by King County and others to the south of us.

The Seattle Times quotes figures from the Bureau of Economic Affairs to find that personal incomes in Whatcom County grew at a rate of almost 6% in 2021.

The average personal income here was just over $58,000.

That put Bellingham at 5th place among metropolitan areas in Washington.

King County led with an average personal income of over $108,000, which helped to push the state’s average to almost $74,000.

San Juan County had the state’s second highest average personal income rate of $87,000, while Skagit County came in third with just over $64,000.

Franklin County had the lowest average personal income at $46,000.
