BELLINGHAM, WA – A new study lists Washington as the best state to find a job in.

Finance website WalletHub compared 34 key indicators of job-market strength and economic health across all 50 states to rank them based on their appeal for job hunters.

Washington placed first in the country, mainly due to it having the highest monthly average starting salary and its lack of an income tax.

It also placed high in worker protections like paid sick leave, equal pay across genders and measures against sexual harassment.

Washington’s biggest weakness was its relatively high average commute time.

Other criteria the study took into account included average length of work week, unemployment rate, industry variety and more.
