BELLINGHAM, Wash. – A popular Bellingham park will remain open this summer after a planned closure has been delayed.

Samish park was slated to be closed all summer as the county planned a construction project to repair the nearby North Lake Samish Road bridge.

After advertising for construction bids on the project, the county says they received just one bid that was $800,000 over their estimated budget.

As a result, the project will be re-advertised for competitive bidding in the fall with construction planned for May next year.
