SEATTLE, WA. – (KGMI.com) Seattle Children’s Hospital is suing the Texas attorney general after he requested its gender-affirming care data.

The Seattle Times reports Children’s filed the lawsuit in a District Court in Texas earlier this month.

The hospital says Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton served it with a demand for information about patients from Texas, which bans gender affirming care for minors.

Children’s says Washington’s new shield law protects it from cooperating with any investigation into gender or reproductive care by a state that bans it.

Washington is not publicly tracking the number of people from out-of-state who have sought gender or reproductive care, but some providers say they have seen an increase.
