SEDRO-WOOLLEY, WA – Adults in Skagit County who have hopes of attaining a high school diploma have a great new option thanks to a local library.
GoSkagit reports the Sedro-Woolley Library is celebrating a partnership with the Smart Horizons Career Online High School that went live earlier this week.
The program allows anyone within the library’s boundaries aged 20 or older who have at least an eighth-grade education to sign up for the online program that will result in an actual high school diploma as opposed to a GED.
The program normally costs about $2,200 per student, but the library say they have budgeted to front the cost themselves as they hope eventually the state will take over funding.
Because the library will be paying for the service, they will be screening applicants to make sure they are committed to following through with the great opportunity.
