BELLINGHAM, WA. – (KGMI.com) A semi-truck driver is in custody following a crash on I-5 on Wednesday, December 27th.

The Washington State Patrol says the accident happened around 10 a.m. on the northbound side of the freeway near Lakeway Drive.

The semi hit the median and drove off the road, causing a nearly two-mile-long backup at times.

Debris from the crash cracked the windshield of another car.

No one in either vehicle was injured.

The crash was cleared just before 3 p.m.

Trooper Kelsey Harding says that the driver, 48-year-old Kulwinder Singh Barat, was arrested on reckless endangerment and suspected DUI charges.
