BLAINE, Wash. – Sewer construction in Blaine started this week as the city’s oldest pipes will be getting upgraded throughout the summer.

The Northern Light reports the project, known as the G Street Sewer Improvements, will see construction crews tackling the renovations in sections throughout mid August.

The city began planning the upgrades after sewage overflowed into the streets in the summer of 2020.

Bellingham’s Strider Construction have been contracted to handle the $4.25 million project.
