BELLINGHAM, Wash. – The Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office wants to help any prospective boaters legally get out onto the water.

The office announced on their Facebook page that they are offering a free Adventures in Boating Course taught by Marine Deputies that will net participants a Washington State boater education card.

The cards are legally required for anyone planning to operate a watercraft of 15 horsepower or more.

The single-day course is on Saturday, May 20th from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 901 W. Smith Rd in Bellingham.
