FRIDAY HARBOR, Wash. – Washington ferry riders were met with huge delays on some runs, including many who were stranded in Friday Harbor over the weekend.

The ferry service announced that the Yakima was taken out of service for repairs Sunday morning.

One man told KIRO that he counted more than 80 vehicles that were stuck in Friday Harbor overnight, with many occupants sleeping in their cars.

Crew shortages also cancelled at least 11 trips to the San Juans Saturday.

There were also hours-long waits reported on the Mukilteo/Clinton route and at Kingston.
