BELLINGHAM, WA – There’s not enough snow in the mountains for skiing on Thanksgiving but opening day at Mount Baker could be just around the corner.

The ski area reports a 20-inch base at Heather Meadows currently with little-to-no new snow in the forecast over the weekend.

But wetter, colder weather is expected next week which could lead to an opening day announcement.

The Mount Baker Ski area says they rely on the weather and conditions rather than setting a date for their annual opening.

KOMO reports Crystal Mountain is also waiting to make an announcement while White Pass, Stevens Pass and Snoqualmie Pass are targeting Friday December 1st to fire up the lifts.
