PORT TOWNSEND, WA. – An earthquake centered near Port Townsend shook most of Western Washington last night.

The Pacific Seismic NW Network confirmed that a 4.3 magnitude quake struck an area underneath Marrowstone Island just before 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 8th.

Seismologists told KOMO that the quake shook about 35 miles below the Earth’s surface.

The tremors were felt throughout northwest Washington, including parts of Whatcom County.

No tsunami warnings or earthquake warnings were activated, as the tremors were not strong enough to activate them.
