OLYMPIA, Wash. – If you recently bought a puppy, you could be due some restitution.

Washington state Attorney General Bob Ferguson announced Tuesday, April 11th, he has filed a lawsuit against Puppyland for misleading marketing of puppies and channeling consumers into predatory loans.

The lawsuit alleges Puppyland misrepresented breeding standards and health guarantees, while pushing buyers into loans with interest rates approaching 200 percent.

The AG’s office says over 7,000 Washingtonians have bought puppies from Puppyland stores since the company opened for business back in 2018.

The company is also accused of including a non-disclosure provision in purchasing paperwork aimed at preventing customers from sharing information about Puppyland.

Some customers complained the puppies they bought became violently ill when they took them home, and some animals even died.

Puppyland faces thousands of dollars in fines for violating the Consumer Protection Act, and Ferguson is seeking restitution for anyone in the state who financed puppies through the company.
