BELLINGHAM, WA. – (KGMI.com) The Meridian School District has been recognized for its school board’s performance.

The Washington State School Directors’ Association announced their winners for this year’s Boards of Distinction program on Friday, October 20th.

Thirty-four school boards from districts of varying sizes across the state were selected to celebrate their exceptional leadership and commitment to student success.

Meridian’s school board was one of seven honored in the small district category.

Other nearby districts that were honored include South Whidbey, La Conner, Mount Vernon and Anacortes.

The districts are now entered into the running for Washington’s Boards of the Year, which distinguishes one small, one medium and one large school district from the list.

Those awards will be decided at the school directors’ annual conference on November 18th.
