OLYMPIA, Wash. – Lawmakers in Olympia are once again addressing the increasing cost of insulin.
The Seattle Times reports that a bipartisan majority passed a $35 out-of-pocket limit for a month’s supply of insulin for Washington state residents during last year’s session.
But the state law will expire at the end of this year.
Lawmakers put a time limit on it as they expected action to hold down costs at the federal level.
Congress passed a $35 cap as part of last year’s Inflation Reduction Act, but only for patients on Medicare.
The new bill in Olympia would extend the $35 limit through 2024.
