MOUNT VERNON, WA. – (KGMI.com) Part of a Skagit County road is back open as crews continue to contain a gas spill.

A section of State Route 534 in Conway was shut down Sunday morning, December 10th, after a gas leak was discovered in the Olympic Pipeline.

One lane of the road reopened to traffic early this morning, Tuesday, December 12th.

The EPA says over 30,000 gallons of fuel has spilled into the Hill Ditch and Bulson Creek, but none of it has seeped into the Skagit River.

Over 1,600 feet of boom has been deployed in the Hill Ditch and Bulson Creek to contain any gas.

The Conway School closed yesterday due to its proximity to the leak, but the school is back open today.
