BELLINGHAM, Wash. – A student at the center of a Bellingham School District scandal has pled guilty to sexual assault charges.

The Bellingham Herald reports that the 16-year-old boy made the plea on Wednesday, May 17th, in Whatcom County Juvenile Court.

As part of the plea deal, two separate charges against him were resolved.

The boy is accused of making inappropriate advances towards a female student at Squalicum High School in 2021.

The victim reported the assaults to three vice principals, Meghan Dunham, Jeremy Louzao and Maude Hackney.

None of them reported the assaults to law enforcement or the Department of Children, Youth, and Families.

All three pled not guilty to charges for not reporting last December.

They have since been reassigned to different roles with the district.

The victim has filed a lawsuit against the Bellingham School District.

That lawsuit is still pending in U.S. District Court.
