SUMAS, Wash. – A library that has been closed since the 2021 November floods is preparing to reopen.
The Sumas Public Library will officially reopen next Wednesday, February 15th, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony kicking things off at 4:45 pm.
Local author Carl Crouse will also host a reading of his book “The Waters Are Rising” at 6 pm.
The library was hit with two feet of floodwaters in 2021.
It cost about $210,000 to renovate and replace the library’s facilities.
The City of Sumas also approved a new library express in the building, which can be accessed by library patrons after hours.
Following the grand reopening, Sumas Public Library will be open 10 am to 6 pm on Mondays and Wednesdays, and from 10 am to 5 pm on Saturdays.
