BELLINGHAM, Wash. – You already know homes are expensive in Bellingham, but a new survey puts it into perspective.

The moving assistance website hireahelper.com found that a person earning the median wage in Bellingham has to work 108 hours a week to afford a median-priced home here.

That puts us at 14th among small metro areas around the country.

Wenatchee is actually #12 on the list as workers there have to work 115 hours a week to afford a median-priced home.

That is because Wenatchee’s lower home prices are offset by its lower median wage.

Seattle is the 8th most expensive large metro area, but workers there have it relatively good.

Median wage workers there only have to work 99 hours a week because of the higher median wage in the city.
