BELLINGHAM, Wash. – A man is in custody after attempting to set a home on fire near the Bellingham Airport.

Whatcom County Chief Deputy Rodger Funk said a witness saw the suspect pour fuel on the back of the home on Saturday, February 4th.

The suspect lit the fuel and then left on a bike.

Another witness was able to put out the fire before it did any extensive damage to the home.

Police were able to locate and arrest the suspect, 30-year-old Kyran Mayshack, a short distance away.

Mayshack remains in the Whatcom County Jail, where he also faces several misdemeanor charges in previous crimes.
