BELLINGHAM, WA – Police say the suspect in custody for the Boulevard Park shooting of Henry King earlier this year has confessed.

22-year-old Elijah Belmont was arrested by Bellingham Police in Marysville Wednesday morning in connection to the murder.

Authorities say they initially had very little information to work with and no eyewitnesses following the killing of King on March 12th.

But two separate witnesses said they heard three gunshots around 4 am.

Investigators later obtained warrants for cell phone data around that time and found that Belmont’s phone was active in the area of the killing.

Police executed a search warrant on Belmont and recovered a 9 mm pistol that was consistent with the shell casings found at the scene of the crime.

Belmont later admitted to shooting King with the suspected gun during an interview with investigators.

Police have not released details about a motive in the murder.

Investigators believe that more people have information that could help the ongoing investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Travis Hauri at 360-778-8791.
