LYNDEN, Wash. – The Lynden School Board held a meeting on Thursday night, September 14th, to discuss a proposed bond that would include the construction of a new high school.

The district’s bond planning task force recommended several project priorities in a report that was released earlier this week.

One proposal is to build a $150 million high school to replace the current 43-year-old building.

A third-party professional gave the current high school building a 61 out of 100 condition assessment score.

The task force’s report also notes that the high school already exceeds its capacity by 130 students, and enrollment increases are expected.

Overall, the report recommends almost two dozen projects funded by a $160 million bond that would raise property taxes $1.89 per $1,000 of assessed value.
