Huskies QB Michael Penix Jr was among the four finalists for the Heisman trophy announced yesterday.

He was joined by Oregon QB Bo Nix, LSU QB Jaden Daniels and Ohio State WR Marvin Harrison Jr.

Penix led the country with over 4,200 passing yards and 33 TD’s this season.

He’s the second Husky to ever be named a finalist for the Heisman and will look to be the first to win it when it’s decided this Saturday.

 

The Seattle Kraken had their losing streak continue last night.

They fell to the Montreal Canadians 4-2 to extend their skid to five straight games.

The Kraken went down 3-0 before scoring a pair of goals that proved too little, too late.

It was the Canadians’ first home win since November 11th.

They’ll head back to Seattle this Thursday to begin a six-game homestand after their extended road trip that saw them drop all four games.

 

The Washington Huskies basketball team lost over the weekend against their first ranked opponent of the season.

UW suffered a tight 86-81 loss to No. 20 Colorado State on Saturday.

Moses Wood had a game-high 21 points and Keion Brooks Jr. added 21 in the defeat.

The Huskies fell to 4-3 on the season as they look to rebound tonight against Montana State.

Washington’s 8-0 women’s team also faces off against MSU at 5 tonight.

They haven’t won a game by less than 16 points all season.

 

Running down the high school basketball scoreboard from last night in Whatcom County…

The Lynden boys and girls each took 37-point blowout wins over Oak Harbor.

The Meridian girls lost to Anacortes.

The Mt. Baker girls fell to La Conner.

And in an inter-county matchup, the Sehome girls defeated Squalicum 47-38.

The Sehome boys took a tight one-point win over Squalicum.
