MIAMI, Florida – Tokitae has jumped another hurdle in the quest to return her to native waters.

Veterinarians who have examined her say the Southern Resident orca is in good health.

KING 5 reports that the Miami Seaquarium, where she has performed under the name Lolita for five decades, released the report this week.

That has allowed plans to relocate her back to the Salish Sea to continue.

She would not be released into the wild, but rather kept in a large pen off one of the San Juan Islands.

The plan to move her would still need to be okay’d by federal authorities.
