FERNDALE, WA. – (KGMI.com) Two men were arrested with over 300 grams of fentanyl in Ferndale over the weekend.
Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Rodger Funk says deputies were sent to a report of a person slumped over their steering wheel near Slater Road on Sunday morning, November 26th.
Two men were found in the car and deputies obtained a search warrant after noticing drug paraphernalia.
The driver, 27-year-old Nicholas Donath, pulled a handgun and baton in front of the deputies, though he dropped the gun.
Deputies later found 325 grams of fentanyl and two grams of meth on him.
The passenger, 25-year-old Giovanni Orrantia-Pieper, was arrested for several active warrants against him including theft, assault and a hit and run.
Donath was released from custody on Monday night.
Orrantia-Pieper remains at the Whatcom County Jail on $5,000 bail.
