BELLINGHAM, Wash. – The Bellingham School District says further tests show gummy candies confiscated at Kulshan Middle School on Thursday, April 20th, did not contain illicit drugs.

A preliminary test found evidence of fentanyl and GHB on the candy, but Superintendent Dr. Greg Baker said in a statement released Friday evening, April 21st, that Bellingham Police conducted a full lab analysis and no illegal substances were detected.

Baker says he decided to err on the side of caution in making a public announcement following the initial analysis, and he thanks the Bellingham Police Department for working with the district to keep students safe.
