OLYMPIA, WA. – (KGMI.com) Leaders in Washington state are keeping an eye on Donald Trump’s eligibility as the 2024 presidential election approaches.

Washington Secretary of State Steve Hobbs issued a statement Wednesday, December 20th, following the Colorado Supreme Court’s ruling that barred former president Trump from the state’s primary ballot.

Hobbs says he and his staff are “monitoring legal developments” that would affect Trump’s eligibility to appear on Washington’s ballot.

He added that the Colorado court’s rulings are “not binding” in Washington and that elections offices will continue to prepare for the upcoming primary as ordered by state law.

Any challenge to Trump’s placement on Washington’s primary ballot cannot be issued until the candidate names are submitted by January 9th.

Washington’s presidential primary election takes place on March 12, 2024.
