BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Whatcom County ranks as one of the wealthiest counties in Washington State.

According to a new survey by investment website SmartAsset, Whatcom County ranked sixth among the state’s 39 counties.

The rankings were determined through a combination of each county’s median incomes and home values, among other factors.

Whatcom County currently has a median income of about $85,000 and a median home value of about $569,000.

Nationally, through those same statistics, Whatcom County ranks 123rd.

King County overwhelmingly came in at #1 for the state, followed by San Juan, Snohomish, Island, and Kitsap Counties.

Skagit County ranked #10 on the list.
