A Search and Rescue team from Whidbey Island made a pair of mountainside rescues this past week.
The team got notice of an ill man who was hiking around Castle Lake near Mount St Helens last Monday.
They reached him within a few hours and transported him to a waiting ambulance.
Then, on Thursday night, they responded to a climber suffering from chest pains on a Mt. Stuart cliff ledge.
Strobe lights helped the SAR team locate the climber and his friend.
They were able to hoist the patient aboard and delivered him to Harborview Medical Center within an hour of arriving.
These were the Naval Air Station’s 19th and 20th rescues of the year, and second on Mount St. Helens recently.
They rescued a hiker with a broken ankle off the side of the mountain just two weeks ago.
